media.press.tv (Poland, Germany and Switzerland), Bindinc. (The Netherlands) and Plurimedia (France) have agreed on close cooperation that offers the highest quality standards for TV and entertainment metadata in Europe.
All members are leaders in their own market and are recognized for the quality of their metadata. Other members will soon join the group.
The purpose of the Group is to offer top quality metadata to the European entertainment industry based on strong local expertise in all the various countries. To reach the highest quality metadata possible, within the Group we will work closely on harmonizing technical and editorial standards. Whilst each member is keen to supply the best services to the local TV broadcasters, the Group proposes to extend the same standards of services to pan-European companies who need multi-lingual data: SVOD players, TV manufacturers, TV operators, OTT, etc.
The Group offers one-stop-shopping by working together with the multiple companies from Europe that are each market leader in their home country. In order to provide our customers with the best quality metadata, here is our value proposition:
- Harmonization of technical standards for exchanging metadata, typology and uniform IDs;
- Unification of editorial standards around TV and radio programs;
- Multi-language approach: metadata available in the required local language
- Cooperation in the field of content information with TV and radio stations, hardware vendors, integrators of hardware and software;
- Strengthening our members through information exchange, selection of suppliers and by adopting top quality standards.
In a recent study by Pyramid Research*, Stephanie Char, Western Europe Analyst, indicates that “OTT players should focus on domestic content and local languages to boost the uptake of their services and revenue”. We believe that The European Metadata Group is in the best position to support video distributors locally.
* In July 2016, Pyramidresearch.com study released the “OTT Video in Europe: Focus on domestic content and local languages to boost take up of services”.
